Appalachia may have beautiful misty mountains and miles of wooded trails, but there is an unspoken side to this region. With unemployment rates higher than anywhere in the USA, issues relating to hunger, low literacy rates, and a recent opioid crisis that has caused more drug overdoses than in the rest of the USA, the need to minister to this impoverished area is evident. Send Relief established a ministry center with a desire to give people an opportunity to share the gospel. Teams of volunteers assist local churches in meeting the needs in their community—showing mercy and compassion through hands-on engagement.
